What does the scan ask employees, and what does their employer see?

The scan asks how innovation works in the organization, and what helps or blocks it. Zenshin Kaishi measures how the organization works, not how people perform.

What do employees answer?

Employees answer 60 to 62 questions, in 25 to 30 minutes.

No question for employees asks about their performance or names a colleague.

Some employee questions invite a short written remark, which the employer reads without a name.

Is taking part voluntary?

Anyone can say no with one click in the invitation.

People who have not completed the scan get one reminder after five days.

What does the employer see?

The employer never sees which employee gave which answer, only combined results.

Employee results combine at least five answers. In scans of up to 20 people, the minimum is three. Everyone who reads a result under a lowered minimum is told so.

Responses from leaders and managers show per role, even from a single person.

The employer sees who was invited, and how many in each role answered. It does not see which employees answered.

Is the works council's consent needed?

In the Netherlands, the works council may have a right of consent. This is article 27 of the Works Councils Act.

Before a scan opens, the employer answers a works council question.

The answers are: "We consulted our works council about this scan, or got its consent." or "We have no works council."

Zenshin Kaishi records the answer, but does not verify it.

Questions to ask your employer

  • Why this scan, and why now?
  • Who was invited, and in which teams?
  • Who reads the report, and what happens with it?
  • Is the minimum for this scan five or three?

Questions about the scan go to the colleague who runs it.
